Delicious, compassionate and purposefully sustainable.
Teacher turned vegan baker
Neha spent years in front of classrooms before she spent them in front of an oven. After earning her Bachelor of Education in Halifax, she taught in Mumbai, India, where managing a classroom of 77 students taught her patience, adaptability, and the quiet art of helping people feel seen. Those instincts never left her. They simply found a new place to belong.
Baking began as a hobby, became a profession, and eventually became a way of expressing the values she wanted to live by. After becoming a mother to twin boys, her perspective shifted toward planetary health, compassion, and the future she hopes the next generation will inherit. Choosing to build a fully plant-based bakery was not following a trend—it was a decision rooted in those convictions.
Neha approaches baking with the same care she once brought to teaching. Vegan pastry leaves little room for shortcuts, so she has spent years testing recipes, refining techniques, and drawing inspiration from the countries she has called home. Every cake reflects both technical precision and a belief that food can bring people together in moments of celebration.
She speaks often about how fortunate she feels to create those moments for others. Behind every cake is someone who has built a business one order at a time, balancing ambition, motherhood, and purpose while remaining grateful for the opportunity to do work she genuinely loves.
Where care becomes the recipe
The cake people keep coming back for
The Rooh Afza Kulfi Cake pairs two distinct South Asian traditions. The sponge uses Rooh Afza, a syrup of rose, fruits, and herbs that has sat on South Asian tables for over a century. The filling draws from kulfi, made here with pistachio, saffron, and cardamom. The result is floral and rich at once, fragrant before the first bite and layered well after the last.
Neha built this cake from flavour memory, not novelty. Rooh Afza is not an obscure ingredient to those who grew up with it. Pairing it with kulfi was a deliberate act: two beloved dessert traditions brought together in a form that sits at a Halifax celebration table.
For those who grew up with those flavours, the response is recognition, not politeness. For first-timers, the complexity holds their attention in a way that straightforward sweetness does not. Customers come back for it — and they bring people with them.
