Grass-fed by the Sea
Four Hunters, one grass-fed herd
Frazer, Angela, Adam and Rena Hunter have been working the same ground in Nova Scotia since 1998, and Knoydart Dairy Farm is what that work looks like: a grass-fed dairy farm where the cows graze by the sea and the family runs every part of what follows. Fluid milk, cream, and cheddar in a range of ages and flavours all come out of one herd and one set of hands. It is a dairy farm first, with the rhythms that implies — animals before breakfast, pasture before product, the slow patience of cheddar coming of age in its own time.
The non-negotiable is simple enough that most people would never think to ask about it. "We only use milk from our herd of cows." Nothing is bought in, nothing is blended from elsewhere. As they put it, their products start and finish on their farm, until they go into your fridge. Traceability, minimal ingredients, minimal processing: that is what the Hunters mean when they say family owned and operated, and it is the same reason supporting local and farming sustainably are not add-ons here but the shape of the whole operation.
What keeps them grounded is hearing where the milk ends up. Customers telling them about a recipe, a batch of baking, a simple glass of milk passed around a table with family and friends. That is the part of the work that comes back to the farm.
Cream still rises to the top
Milk that tastes like before
Knoydart Dairy Farm's best-selling product is its milk, fluid grass-fed dairy from a family farm by the sea in Nova Scotia. It is just like old fashioned milk: rich, creamy and full of nutrients, made simply with minimal ingredients and processing. The herd eats pasture grass, and that shows up in the bottle, in the cream and in the body of it. The Hunters hear the same thing from customers again and again, that once you start drinking it, it's hard to go back to your regular grocery store milk.

A Heartfelt Note
We are Frazer, Angela, Adam and Rena Hunter, and we have been farming here in Nova Scotia since 1998. Knoydart is a grass-fed dairy farm, which means our cows spend their days out on pasture, near the sea.
What comes off this farm is fluid milk, cream, and cheddar in a variety of ages and flavors. It is all made simply, with minimal ingredients and minimal processing. We don't think good dairy needs much more than that.
Thank you for allowing us to share our products with you. There is a lot of pride behind what we do, providing natural, traceable, and sustainable dairy products to local families. ~ Frazer, Angela, Adam and Rena Hunter, Knoydart Dairy Farm
