Hand-painted bird and floral art
UX designer turned nature painter
Snehal K spent her working life as a user experience designer in IT before Plumes & Blossoms Art Studio, the Halifax, Nova Scotia home of her hand-painted bird and floral art, prints, and handcrafted creations. That career taught her to pay attention to detail, to understand what people connect with, and to think carefully about how something looks and feels. None of that was left behind when she picked up a brush. It shows up in the artwork itself, in how her products are designed, in the way a collection is presented, in the building of her own website. Painting gives her more creative freedom than the design work did, but the designer's mindset is what holds it all together.
The thing she won't compromise on is something most people will never catch. A print has to stay true to the original painting. She checks the colours and the fine details, especially the feather markings that give each bird its character, and she looks for whether the softness of the painted artwork still comes through before she will call a print ready. Customers may not notice every little adjustment. She notices. It matters to her that what reaches them reflects the care she put into the original.
Her greatest joy comes at the market table, when someone stops, takes time with a painting, asks about it, or offers their own connection to a bird or a flower. Those conversations mean a lot to her even when they don't lead to a purchase. More meaningful still are the photos that come back later: her artwork hanging in someone's home, part of an ordinary day. Knowing a painting has found a place in a person's everyday life is what reminds her why she started, and what carries her through the tougher days.
She believes art can help us slow down, notice the beauty in everyday nature, and feel connected to the world around us. Through Plumes & Blossoms Art Studio she is building more than a collection of paintings. She is making room for people to share memories, to find joy in birds and flowers they already recognise, and to bring a little of that feeling home with them.
From patio visitors to shop shelves
Birds you already know
Plumes and Blossoms Art Studio's Backyard Bird Poster is the hand-painted bird art that keeps finding its way out of Snehal K's Halifax studio and into people's homes. It gathers a variety of birds customers recognize from their own gardens and neighbourhoods, arranged together in one nature-inspired composition, each one carried by hand-painted detail rather than flat printing. That recognition is the draw. People look at it and name the birds they've already watched from a kitchen window, and seeing them captured together in a single artwork turns familiarity into something worth hanging.
Where it lands says the rest. Customers frame it for an office, a nursery, or a favourite corner of the house, bringing a little of the outdoors in. The connection to nature is what makes it theirs.

A Heartfelt Note
Thank you for being here and taking an interest in my art. Plumes & Blossoms Art Studio began with the simple joy of painting the birds visiting my patio, and it means so much to share that joy with you.
Whether you choose a piece for your home, give my art as a gift, share my work, or stop by for a conversation at a market, your support matters to me. I hope my paintings bring a little nature, happiness, and perhaps a special memory into your everyday life.
